you may have tried already, but it is a 310t course available free through YMCA, which consists of three tests to get into the program. 1) mechanical exam 2) math exam 3) english exam.
If you do pass the test you will get into the program, funded by the government for textbooks, tuition, and $110 for work boots, $500 for tools after course completion,...I know this because i am currently enrolled in this program. I have an electrical diploma and am only 22, job market for electrician is very very low, but truck techinician and automotive is at highest.
